The 2026 sessions, and 2027
Japan has a national calendar, published by the Centre national DELF/DALF Japon: the written papers are on the same weekend in every centre, the speaking tests may fall on other days depending on the centre. The 2027 dates had not been published on 26 October 2026.

|---|---|---|
| Tout public, March 2026 (A1 to B2) | 9 January – 7 February | Saturday 21 March |

Several centres were already marked “complet” (full) for the March and spring 2026 sessions: places depend on each centre’s capacity, and a centre closes registration as soon as it is full.

How to register
You register with the centre, not with the national centre: at its reception desk, or in the Instituts français’ online shops, during the published windows, which cannot be changed. You give your name, date and place of birth, nationality, e-mail and phone number — and, if you have already taken a DELF or DALF, the candidate number you were given then. A parent or guardian signs the form for candidates under 18. Calendar and forms: delfdalf.jp.

Adults, juniors and children
The DELF and DALF tout public are for adults and older teenagers, with no upper age limit. The DELF junior is for 12- to 18-year-olds (spring 2026: Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Nagoya, Sendai) and the DELF Prim for 8- to 12-year-olds (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya). All three lead to the same diploma.
Results and diplomas
Results are published only online, on app.resultats.delfdalf.jp: enter the 12-digit candidate number on your notice to attend, without hyphens, and your date of birth. Nothing is given by phone or e-mail. You pass with 50/100 or more; below 5 points in any of the four skills (10 for the C2) you are eliminated, as you are if you miss a paper. A candidate who failed may ask in writing, within seven days of the results, to see their paper — without re-marking. If you need proof before the diploma arrives, a certificate can be sent to you.
Preparing while you wait for the dates
The exam itself does not change from one country to another: in Japan as in France, the DELF A1 to B2 and the DALF C1 have four sections scored out of 25, you pass with 50/100, and a score below 5/25 in any one section fails you; the diploma is issued by the French Ministry of Education and is valid for life. France Éducation international publishes free official sample papers — DELF B2, DELF B1, DALF C1 — with the answer keys, the listening recordings and the marking grids. Our guides, in English: the DELF B2 practice test, with answers, the DELF B2, the DELF B1 and the DALF C1 and C2; for France’s own calendar and the other countries, DELF exam dates 2027.
Practise on the real format
You pay the full fee for each session, and you can’t retake the test right away. The mock exams in the “TCF DELF TEF: Tests 2026” app follow the official format of each test — TCF Canada, TEF Canada, DELF, DALF — scored like the real thing, with AI feedback on writing and speaking.
